About the project

As part of a competition for a mixed use building in one of Dubai’s prime areas – Business Bay – we worked on designing this option inspired by an opening Lotus flower. The strategic location of the land is very special as it is surrounded by water from three sides, creating unrepeated breathtaking views of the downtown.

Concept

As the area of the project is located on a land surrounded by water, Shawa Architecture naturally chose the lotus flower as the inspiration for this design. Lotus flower is characterized by its circular cylindrical shape, beautiful colors and fragrant smell. For generations, this flower was of utmost importance in pharmaceutical preparations, and also played a big role in ancient architecture, especially in Egypt where the beautiful flower remains as an important symbol until now.
