About the project

This is one of the multiple options that Shawa Architecture presented to Etisalat who conducted a competition for their new head office design in the DIFC area of Dubai. Being one of the top leaders in telecommunication business in the world, Etisalat adopted the pearl structure as a distinctive element on top of the majority of their buildings to represent its ambitions to offer service of the highest quality.

Concept

Pearls are an essential topic when speaking about the UAE heritage, as pearl trade here was what helped the country at the beginning of its road to ever growing development. In this design, the shell-shape represents the shell from where the pearls are extracted and that is known for its purity and durability. Etisalat’s determination to support the environment was reflected by adding green plants to the elevation and roof. Moreover, the building has a number of other features that ensure sustainability, like large windows that allow maximum daylight.
